Things to Know
- JPEG is a lossy format — some quality was lost when the photo was first saved as JPEG. Converting to PDF does not add any additional quality loss, but it also cannot recover detail that was already compressed away.
- Photos taken on a phone in portrait orientation sometimes appear sideways in the PDF because the rotation is stored as EXIF metadata. Rotate in your Photos app before uploading if this happens.
- JPEG does not support transparency. If you need the image on a specific background, the PDF will always have a white background behind any transparent-looking areas.
- If you are converting scanned documents — bank statements, contracts, utility bills — the output PDF will be an image PDF, not a searchable text PDF. Use OCR software like Adobe Acrobat or Google Drive to make it text-searchable.
