Drag & Drop Your PNG File Here

PNG files are the standard for screenshots, digital artwork, UI mockups, and any image that needs lossless quality with transparency support. When you need to submit a PNG as a document, add it to a report, or share it in a format that cannot be accidentally edited, converting to PDF is the most reliable option.

This tool converts PNG to PDF with quality fully preserved — no JPEG compression applied to your lossless source file.

How to Convert PNG to PDF

  1. Upload your .png file or drag and drop it onto the upload area. The tool accepts files up to 100MB.
  2. Check the preview to confirm the image loaded correctly. Transparent areas will appear on a white background in the preview and in the PDF output.
  3. Click Convert. The PNG is embedded in a PDF page at its original resolution.
  4. Download. For multiple PNGs, convert each separately and use Merge PDF to combine them.

PNG vs JPG for PDF Conversion

Property PNG source JPG source Impact on PDF
Compression Lossless Lossy PNG PDFs are larger but sharper
Transparency Supported Not supported PNG transparency becomes white in PDF
Best for Screenshots, logos, UI Photos, complex images Use PNG for text-heavy images
Typical file size (1920×1080) 1–3MB 200KB–1MB PNG PDFs are typically 2–5x larger

Things to Know

  • PNG transparency converts to a white background in PDF. PDF pages do not support transparent backgrounds natively — if you need the image on a colored background, add the background color before converting.
  • Very high resolution PNGs (4K screenshots, 300 DPI print files) produce large PDFs. A 4K screenshot PNG at 300 DPI can produce a PDF over 10MB. Resize the PNG first if file size matters.
  • PNG files with indexed color (8-bit palette mode) convert fine but may look slightly different if the tool converts them to full RGB in the process.
  • Animated PNGs (APNG) use only the first frame in the PDF output since PDF does not support animation.

Common Questions

How do I convert a PNG file to PDF?

Upload your .png file and click Convert. The tool preserves the full lossless quality of the PNG and embeds it in a PDF. No compression or quality reduction is applied to the source image.

Does PNG to PDF preserve transparency?

Transparency is not supported in standard PDF pages — transparent areas become a white background in the PDF output. If you need the image on a specific background color, add that color to the PNG before converting.

Why is my PNG PDF so large?

PNG is a lossless format, so the PDF embeds high-quality image data without compression. A 4K PNG can produce a PDF over 10MB. Resize the PNG to your target output dimensions before converting to reduce file size.

Can I convert multiple PNGs into one PDF?

Convert each PNG to a separate PDF, then use the Merge PDF tool to combine them into a single multi-page document. Each PNG becomes one page in the merged PDF.
