HEIC to PDF
Drag & Drop Your HEIC File Here
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones running iOS 11 and later. The format produces smaller files than JPEG at comparable quality, which is why Apple uses it — but it creates problems when you need to share photos with people on Windows, submit images through portals, or include them in documents that require PDF format.
This tool converts HEIC files to PDF directly in your browser without needing to install iMazing, Lightroom, or any other desktop software.
How to Convert HEIC to PDF
- Upload your .heic file from your iPhone, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop. You can also drag and drop directly from Finder on a Mac.
- Check the preview to confirm the image loaded correctly. Some older HEIC files from early iOS 11 devices may need an extra second to decode.
- Click Convert. The image is decoded and embedded in a PDF page.
- Download. If you have multiple HEIC photos to convert, run them individually and use Merge PDF to combine them into one document.
HEIC vs JPEG: What Changes When You Convert to PDF
| Property | HEIC original | After PDF conversion |
|---|---|---|
| File size | ~3–5MB for 12MP photo | ~4–8MB PDF (varies by quality) |
| Color depth | 10-bit HDR supported | 8-bit standard in PDF |
| Compatibility | Apple devices only (natively) | Universal — any device |
| EXIF metadata | Full GPS, camera, date | May be stripped depending on tool |
| Live Photo portion | Short video clip attached | Still frame only in PDF |
Things to Know
- HEIC files from an iPhone sometimes contain multiple images in one file — a burst mode series or a Live Photo with its still and video frames. The converter typically extracts the primary still image. If you need all frames, use Preview on a Mac to export them individually first.
- HDR photos shot on iPhone 12 and later have 10-bit color depth. PDF uses 8-bit, so very subtle HDR highlights may look slightly different in the converted output.
- Live Photos include a short video clip alongside the still image. Only the still image converts to PDF — the video portion is not included.
- If you are on Windows and cannot open HEIC files at all, this browser-based converter works without any drivers or codecs installed.
Common Questions
Upload your .heic file from your iPhone, iCloud, or Mac. The tool decodes and converts it to PDF in your browser. No software installation or Apple account needed.
Windows does not include a HEIC codec by default. You need to install the HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store, or simply convert the HEIC files to a more compatible format like JPEG or PDF using this tool.
Convert each HEIC file to a separate PDF, then use the Merge PDF tool to combine them into a single multi-page document. There is no batch upload for HEIC files in the current version.
The conversion preserves quality comparable to a high-quality JPEG export. The main change is color depth — HEIC supports 10-bit HDR while PDF uses 8-bit, so extreme highlights in HDR photos may appear slightly different.
